1 Create Emergency Plan

1.1 Meet with Family. Discuss what would happen with each type

1.2 Draw a map with an escape rout out of the house

1.3 Agree on two meeting places. One in the yard and one away from the house in case it’s destroyed

1.4 Learn how to turn off the water, gas and electricity at the main switches

1.5 Pick 2 friends or relatives to call if separated – one local and one out of state

1.6 Post emergency phone numbers near phones (including 2 friends)

1.7 Teach children how to call 911

1.8 Tech children how to make long distance phone calls

1.9 Teach the family how to tune into the emergency radio station in the area

1.10 Take a basic first aid class
